Best Ice Kacang In Melbourne

This desert may not be known to many but any Malaysians and Singaporeans can associate themselves to this famous dessert especially on a hot day.

Ice kacang is a Malaysian/Singaporean dessert. This dessert consists mainly of shaved ice with the following accompaniment:

  • Attap chee (palm seed)
  • Red beans
  • Sweet corn
  • Grass jelly
  • Cubes of agar agar
  • Evaporated milk
  • Condensed milk
  • Red rose syrup
  • Gula Melaka
  • Ground roasted peanut

If you are looking for the best Ice Kacang in Melbourne, look no further. Sue’z Delight serves the best Ice Kacang – I have tried Ice Kacang in many Malaysian/Singaporean restaurants and none is as good.

Ice Kacang

Ice Kacang

Why do I say it is the best?

  • The taste is authentic. The other Ice Kacang I tried so far tasted too commercialised.
  • Super generous accompaniment/toppings while other restaurants serve more shaved ice and not much of anything else. The serving size is so much that I believe it may qualify as a main meal.
  • You only pay less than AUD6 for a mega serve of Ice Kacang.
  • The accompaniment/toppings are fresh.
  • A lot of love and care has been put into shaved ice and accompaniment/toppings. The ice is finely shaved with no chunk of ice found from start to finish. The accompaniment/toppings are also placed evenly so that you don’t have to go treasure hunting for it.

To the Ice Kacang seekers, I hope you will enjoy the Ice Kacang as much as I did.

Yum, Yum.

Best Penang Char Kuey Teow In Melbourne

I am a fortunate foodie who was born and grew up in Penang island, Malaysia. Yes, the food heaven island that is well-known for its variety and where the best Malaysian food can be found. So I am qualified enough to judge if Char Kuey Teow (Penang style) is true to its name, taste and authenticity. Go ask anyone from Penang, Malaysia … we are very particular on the food we eat (only the best will do) as the island has the best of the best to offer. It is common that foodies from Kuala Lumpur and even Singapore travel all the way to Penang to savour the food there.

Penang Char Kuey Teow

If you are after the best Penang Char Kuey Teow in Melbourne, Sue’z Delights is the place to go to. If you think there are any better ones out there, let me know and I am more than willing to give the award to the other restaurant. I have hunted for the best Char Kuey Teow all across Melbourne CBD and surrounding suburbs and none came close to the one by Sue’z Delights. The following are the places I tried that I can remember:

  1. The Little King Eatery (2nd best but has ceased its operation)
  2. Jalan Alor (the new 2nd best)
  3. Straits of Malacca
  4. Petaling Street
  5. Penang Coffee House
  6. Jade Kingdom
  7. Sambal Kampung
  8. Straits Café
  9. Chef Lagenda
  10. Laksa King

In a few words, the reasons why the CKT is the best here are:

  • not too oily (that’s how Penangnites enjoy it)
  • has no excessive pork lard
  • has the ‘Wok Hei’ (flavour and charred of the Wok)
  • authentic taste, texture, ingredients

Until the next best Penang Char Kuey Teow joint arises, I will savour what Sue’z Delight has to offer.
